Sitemap Generator is a free online tool that turns a plain list of page addresses into a valid XML sitemap. Paste one URL per line, choose how often the pages change and how important they are, then download a sitemap.xml ready to submit to Google Search Console.
It is the fastest route when you already have the addresses but no plugin to build the file: a static site with no CMS behind it, a handful of landing pages living outside the main build, or a freshly migrated section whose new URLs you want crawled before anyone stumbles on the old ones. Exporting a list from a spreadsheet and pasting it here takes about a minute.
The XML is assembled in your browser and the addresses you paste are never sent to a server. Site structure gives away more than it looks, since a full URL list maps out every section you run, including ones not linked from anywhere public. Here that list stays in your own tab.
Put one full address per line in Page URLs, each starting with http:// or https://. The counter beside the label tracks how many lines it has found.
Choose how often these pages change in the Change Frequency dropdown. Untick Include in sitemap underneath if you would rather leave the element out of the file entirely.
Priority runs from 0 to 1 and starts at 0.8. Last Modified defaults to today. Each has its own Include in sitemap checkbox if you want it omitted.
Click Generate Sitemap. The file appears below, with a line above it reporting how many URLs went in and which lines were skipped as invalid.
Click Download sitemap.xml and upload it to the root of your site. Then submit the address in Google Search Console and add a Sitemap: line for it in your robots.txt.

No. You supply the list of URLs and the tool formats it into valid XML. That is deliberate: crawling would mean handing your domain to a server to go and fetch, which this page never does. Export the list from your CMS or a desktop crawler, then paste it in.
Not in a single pass. The change frequency, priority and last modified values you pick apply to every URL in the list. When one group of pages needs different values, generate that group on its own and merge the url blocks into one file by hand afterwards.
Fifty thousand, and the file must stay under 50MB uncompressed. This tool stops at that limit and tells you when your list ran longer. Past it, split the URLs across several sitemap files and reference those files from a sitemap index file instead.
No. Google has said it ignores priority and changefreq, since too few sites set them honestly for the values to mean anything. They are still part of the sitemap standard and other crawlers may read them, which is why both are optional here. The loc and lastmod values are what carry weight.
Usually the root of your site, so it answers at https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml. Then do two more things: add a Sitemap: line pointing at it in your robots.txt, and submit the address in Google Search Console. A sitemap nobody has been told about achieves very little.
Each line has to parse as a complete http or https address. Bare domains with no scheme, relative paths such as /about, and stray notes all get dropped, and the message above the output names the first few it rejected. Add the https:// prefix and generate again.
